About the Role

The CNC EDM Programmer is responsible for leading the wire EDM operations within the company. This includes programming, setting up the Mitsubishi MV1200R EDM machine, and analyzing the EDM process to ensure optimal performance and precision. The role requires a strong understanding of engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAM software (ESPRIT preferred) to produce high-quality components.

CNC EDM programming is a skilled trade that requires precision, attention to detail, and leadership capabilities. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of EDM processes, engineering documentation, and CAM software.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and other technical documents to determine the specific requirements of each job.
  • Program EDM machines using ESPRIT CAM software.
  • Set up and operate the Mitsubishi MV1200R EDM machine to produce precision parts and tools.
  • Analyze and optimize EDM processes for efficiency and quality.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and troubleshoot any issues that arise with the EDM machine.
  • Inspect finished products to ensure they meet the required specifications and make necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate records of machine usage, production data, and maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to meet project deadlines and improve manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and mathematical concepts.
  • Proficiency in CAM software (ESPRIT preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience working with a variety of materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain close tolerances within .0002 inches.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in operating Wire EDM machines with knowledge of machining processes; Equivalent combination of education, training, or experience will also be considered.

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience working with Mitsubishi EDM machines, specifically MV1200R.

Shift Preference

  • First Shift: 6:30 A.M. - 3:00 P.M.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. The role routinely uses standard manufacturing equipment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and moderate noise levels. The position is fully on-site and follows all OSHA and company safety protocols. Safety equipment, such as earplugs, safety glasses, and gloves, may be required.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk, use their hands for handling parts or tools, and reach with arms. The employee may be required to lift and/or move items up to 30 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance.
