Job Summary:
ZM Trucks is a trusted leader in commercial vehicles, specializing in durable and high-performance trucks. The Program Manager will focus on driving product development operations for zero-emission commercial vehicle products, ensuring all aspects of the program are developed on time and within budget while collaborating with various departments.
Responsibilities:
• Drive and coordinate product development operations for multiple vehicle programs at ZM Trucks.
• Participate during business case development for vehicle programs to understand vehicle technical and feature specification requirements, supplier communications, development costs and timelines.
• Define and own program development roadmaps, including timelines, delivery leads, compiling program costs, etc. to support program kickoff.
• Collaborate with Sales and Engineering teams to define vehicle configurations (options and variants) and own the Vehicle Configuration Matrix for each program.
• Work with product development stakeholders in driving design reviews, release/freeze milestones, program health reviews, validation and launch activities etc. to ensure development is on track with defined roadmaps.
• Ensure all departments (Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, After-Sales) are meeting milestones and completing defined specifications and deliverables throughout the program development lifecycle.
• Coordinate program level discussions with internal and external teams across teams and suppliers in United States, China, and other regions/time-zones as needed.
• Be the gatekeeper for mid-development product specification updates and drive feasibility and cost discussions as required to optimize overall program timeline impact.
• Prepare and distribute reports and dashboards to clearly communicate program status to stakeholders and executive management teams. Be proactive in understanding any deviations to program development metrics and lead mitigation efforts across the board.
• Perform other related tasks as needed by the program management office and/or other departments within the company.
Qualifications:
Required:
• A bachelor’s degree (master’s degree is a plus) in a field relevant to automotive product development – such as Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Development, etc.
• Native-level fluency in English and professional level in Mandarin Chinese.
• 2+ years as a Program Manager OR 5+ years as a Program Coordinator (or as a related cross-functional stakeholder) driving new product development operations for high complexity, high variance products (preferably automotive – cars, commercial vehicles, etc.).
• Deep understanding of product development phases, roadmaps, release management practices.
• Familiarly (through use) with PLM (Dassault, Siemens, etc.) and ERP (NetSuite, SAP, etc.) systems to drive design reviews, components and BOM release control, options configuration management, etc.
• Good understanding of automotive (or similar industry) development stakeholder processes – Finance (Program budgets, CapEx/OpEx cost categories), Engineering (design, release, integration, validations, etc.), Supply Chain (sourcing, tooling, planning, MRDs), Manufacturing (MBOM, process plans, equipment, launch/SOP), Quality (Control plans, inspection plans, issue management), After-Sales (SBOMs, service partners).
• Excellent project management skills, including defining and tracking timelines (Gantt), assigning and tracking tasks, etc.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including being able to communicate/resolve issues across multiple departments, sites, and time-zones.
• Ability to work on multiple programs simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. Balance level of detail and refinement with speed of execution.
• Comfortable with preparing and presenting program metrics and status reports to stakeholders and executives of the company accordingly.
